Seedlings / 2023 Year-End Celebration

Novi Oaks will honor its members with milestone membership anniversaries, have some holiday fun, and welcome Katelynn Lucas from Seedlings.

Seedlings Braille Books for Children is a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to increasing the opportunity for literacy and education by providing high quality, free and low cost braille books for children. In 1984 Seedlings' Founder, Debra Bonde, realized how scarce and expensive braille materials were. Wanting to increase the availability and lower the costs, Debra started producing braille books in her Detroit, Michigan basement. In that first year she produced 221 books by herself. Since then, Seedlings has produced more than 680,000 braille books, shipped to over 75 countries and offers over 1,200 titles in our catalog!

Katelynn Lucas has been with Seedlings for over 10 years, moving around to almost every department within the organization. Like the rest of Seedlings' staff, Katelynn enjoys being able to help children with vision loss by being a part of the Seedlings family. For more information, visit www.seedlings.org.
