Our 18th Annual Autumn Brunch With Auction, was held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Burton Manor in Livonia. We welcomed 150 attendees as the doors opened at 9:30 a.m. with the bidding beginning and coffee and Mimosas flowing! See the pictures below!
There were 279 items up for bid and we raised $12,600 after expenses. We had so many donations that we had to hold some items back, which gives us a hefty head start on next year’s auction. Yay!
We are waiting to hear if we will have Saturday, October 12 or 19, 2024, for the 2024 auction (at the Burton Manor in Livonia). We are going with a later date because the 75th Anniversary National Women’s Leadership Conference will be on September 25 through 28 in Overland Park, Kansas, and we want at least eight of our members to attend that event.
As always, we are so grateful for all the people who worked to make this event a success, including the owners and staff of the Burton Manor. The continued generosity and dedicated support of area business people, our members, family, co-workers, neighbors, and friends keeps this event alive.
We raised $12,600 for scholarships and education!
We have funded the 2024 $1,000 Bettie Archer Johnson Scholarship at Madonna University and two $2,000 Impact Scholarships for 2024 through the ABWA Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund (SBMEF). Applications open up on January 1, 2024.
We will also sponsor a candidate for the 2024 $2,000 Outright Grant program at a cost of only $150 to the chapter. Receipt of the grant is not guaranteed because one recipient will be chosen for each of the six districts of ABWA by the National Board of Directors. District V includes Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
Novi Oaks also offers a Business Skills Tuition Reimbursement program for women taking non-college training to enhance their skills, and provides funds for members to attend regional and national ABWA conferences.
Here are some pictures of the 2023 event. Each table at the auction was hosted by a friend or member in a theme of her choice. Seeing the decorations is half the fun!
